Developing logos and colour schemes to promote projects in educational institutions

Creating a colour system that reads to the core of the project.

ESG (ESG-IREC, ESG Integration Research and Education Centre, Osaka School of International Public Policy) promotes research, education and social cooperation in both theory and practice on the desirable ‘ESG integration’ model for corporate business activities to shape a sustainable future. As ESG is not yet a familiar word in Japan, we proposed to have an opportunity to recognize and remember ESG with a logo, reading the core of the ESG project, and in particular to give meaning to the colours, blue: governance, green: environment, pink: social, where the colours intersect with each other. The parts are People, Earth and Sky, with ESG-IREC at the heart of the project. By making the colours of each of the components vivid, the logo is designed to have an impact that is not only in the conventional image of sustainability and governance, but also in today’s global context, and to reach young students who will be responsible for the future of society. As the logo and colour scheme are mainly used to communicate overseas, the logo and colour scheme need to have impact and contrast to make a clear statement, and as the logo is mainly used for web development, we dared to use RGB colours so that it can maintain its presence when placed alongside the logos of overseas organisations in sponsorship.
